New Heights Reached At 2010 TWHBEA World Versatility Show
Murfreesboro, TN – In what was the most successful World Versatility Show to date, Tennessee Walking Horses from across the country gathered at Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to test their abilities against the best of the best. The three- day schedule, which ran July 23-25, included a full range of classes from speed events such as Barrel Racing and Pole Bending to skill classes including Dressage, Western Riding, and Trail Obstacle.

For the first time ever, this year’s show featured a $2,500 jackpot in the Basic Reining class. This jackpot, which attracted 18 competitors, was generously sponsored by Manna Pro. The top three ties in this unprecedented event when to Hey Cowboy with Jessica Shultz up for Middle Tennessee State University, Champagne Watchout with Jennie Jackson up for Walkin On Ranch, and Claimjumper with owner/exhibitor Lani Sollenberger up. Also new this year was an evening session comprised entirely of rail classes.
Overall, the show hosted 361 entries. Four different judges marked the cards for the event. D.A. McGovern of Goodlettsville, Tennessee judged the balance of the event while Carol Wakefield of Lewisburg, Tennessee handled Trail Obstacle, Jenni Hogan of Chapel Hill, Tennessee tied Dressage, Jennifer Pigue of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, adjudicated Hunter Hack and Tennessee Walking Horses Over Fences, and Louis Hufnagel of Nashville, Tennessee tied Western Riding and Basic Reining.

This year’s World Versatility Show high point awards were hotly contested. Each high point winner received a cooler courtesy of White Stallion Creations and a halter donated by Valley Vet Supply. Each reserve high point recipient was awarded a cooler provided by Mill Creek Land & Cattle, LLC. Additionally, the adult and youth high point winners received a monetary award of $500 while the professional high point award included a check for $100. The adult and youth reserve high point recipients received checks for $250. As has become tradition, the overall high point winner received a “Tennessean” Deluxe Saddle generously donated by National Bridle Shop in Lewisburg, Tennessee.
The 2010 TWHBEA World Versatility Show High Point Award recipients included Tracy Pinson and Skyjacker’s Mountain High – Overall and Adult High Point, Linda Starnes and Traveling Time – Adult Reserve High Point, Allie Easley and Traveling Time – Youth High Point, Patricia Crisp and Heavenly Vision – Youth Reserve High Point, Jennie Jackson – Professional High Point, and Jessica Shultz – Professional Reserve High Point.

Back for a second year were the Versatility Sweepstakes classes for horses four and under. Five classes were offered including Dressage Intro No Canter, Hunter Hack, Trail Obstacle, Western Riding, and Basic Reining. High point awards were presented to the top rider, sire, and dam for these classes. Jennie Jackson claimed the high point rider award while the high point sire and dam awards went to Hard Texas Cash, owned by Nancy Groover, and Mitzi Ritzi, owned by Tracy Pinson, respectively. Each Versatility High Point winner received a set of clippers compliments of Wahl.

Definitely a show on the grow, the World Versatility Show simply would not be possible without the dedication of staff and volunteers.
